Bio
Donna Chapel was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky and comes from generations of performers, who laid the ground work in country and gospel music that we all enjoy today. She began singing professionally at age 14 with her new step-mother, that is known to everyone as Tammy Wynette. She sang with Tammy through six number one records and two albums, those songs include:  "Apartment # 9", "Your Good Girl Is Gonna Go Bad", "I Don't Wanna Play House", "Take Me To Your World", "My Elusive Dreams" and "Divorce". Donna and her father Don Chapel performed with Tammy across America, Canada, Germany and England. Donna has appeared numerous times on the Grand Ole Opry with Tammy and performed with Tammy at the 1967 Grammy awards program where Tammy Wynette won a Grammy. Donna appeared with many of the great Opry Stars on shows across the U.S. and performed on numerous TV Shows including: "The Jimmy Dean Show", "Porter Wagoner Show", "Wilburn Brothers Show" and "Bobby Lord". George Jones often called Donna out to sing a duet with him "We Must Been Out Of Our Minds" that originally he did with Melba Montgomery. At the age of 15, Donna was signed to Epic Records under the production of Billy Sherrill. Billy call a session for a song he found for Donna and after working on it for a few hours they all were disappointed to find out that the song would be going to another female artist. The song "Harper Valley PTA" and was a huge success that sold millions of copies for Jeannie C. Reilly. Donna wrote many of her own songs. She wrote a song called "Country Man" about the importance of the farmers in the Midwest where she lived. It was very will received the farmers sent Donna to Washington, DC twice to sing this song for Congress and Senate  to show support for them. It was made into a video and was on TNN's Video Country Show as the number one new artist video for nearly a month. Willie Nelson said he got the idea for Farm Aid from this song, and he played the video on the first Farm Aid concert.
